New Hope Presbyterian Church is a New
Church Development of the Presbyterian
Church of USA in the Presbytery of San
Francisco.
Our ministry was born in 1991 as the English-speaking ministry of the Korean
Presbyterian Church of San Francisco which is located in the Mission District. The relationship between KPC-San Francisco and New Hope is a good one. However, as New Hope developed, we recognized that God's vision for our two congregations (Korean-speaking and English-speaking) was diverging.
As a result, with KPC-San Francisco's blessing, New Hope received approval from the Presbytery of San Francisco in 2005 to become a New Church Development. This step allows us to become an chartered ("independent") church. The remainder of 2005 was spent preparing for New Hope's move to a new location.
In January 2006, New Hope moved to the Sunset District, which is where more of our members live. We are renting space from Covenant Presbyterian Church.
Our Sunday worship service is contemporary style, with praise, prayer and preaching of God's Word. The fellowship lunch that follows is a casual time for us to share conversation and good food. Our members take turns providing lunch for the congregation each week.
Our gatherings on Sunday provide great opportunity for connecting. Additionally, we have two small groups (called Family Groups) that meet on Friday evenings where there is opportunity for extended discussions regarding God's Word and for prayer.
